Visual optimization across a multichannel ecosystem.

Univision’s YouTube network spans a wide variety of channels—Univision, Desiguales, Despierta América, Chavoland, Atentamente Victoria, Muy Chistoso, Novelas y Novelas, and others—each with its own visual identity and target audience.

Thumbnail design and optimization play a key role in strengthening brand consistency, boosting visibility, and enhancing user engagement across this ecosystem. While most thumbnails follow strict brand guidelines, they are still crafted to tell a compelling visual story within seconds.

Process

— Collaborated with a design team to deliver high-volume thumbnails under tight daily deadlines.

Created thumbnails based on still frames or talent photos, often retouched or enhanced using Photoshop’s AI tools.

Ensured accurate copy placement using editorial input; followed channel-specific guidelines for visual consistency.

Produced 2–3 thumbnail options when needed, allowing YouTube managers to test performance or swap versions.

Delivered most thumbnails within 20–30 minutes; occasionally developed original visuals or custom edits for live events.

Outcome

This project sharpened my ability to work quickly within brand frameworks, enhancing my skills in visual editing, storytelling through imagery, and AI-powered retouching.

While I don’t have access to channel metrics, the experience gave me a deeper understanding of how strategic design supports publishing efficiency and content visibility across high-traffic platforms.

Additionally, I created complementary assets—such as Instagram and Facebook posts, as well as Stories with direct video links—to amplify selected YouTube content. These visuals, often based on the thumbnail design, were shared by official Univision and UniNovelas accounts, and occasionally reshared by on-air talent, extending the content’s reach beyond YouTube.

In a scroll-heavy platform, smart visuals are the first click-worthy story.
